William ‘Monk’ Wesley Carter Sr., 82

William “Monk” Wesley Carter Sr., age 82, of Douglas, GA, went to be with our Lord and Savior on Wednesday, December 13, 2023 at his residence surrounded by his family. He was born on May 21, 1941, the son of Mr. George Carter and Mrs. Estelle Kirkland Carter.

 

 

His survivors include: His Wife; Barbara Cumbass Carter of Douglas, GA, One Son; William (Donna) Wesley Carter Jr. of Ambrose, GA, Two Daughters; Cynthia (David) Nugent of Pearson, GA, and Lisa Chaney (Calvin) Reliford of Douglas, GA, Three Step-Children; Kendra Smith, Kim (Charlie) Lott, and Kevin Cumbass, Fifteen Grandchildren, Eighteen Great-Grandchildren, along with several Nieces and Nephews. He was preceded in death by; His Beloved Wife; Joann Ring Carter, Father; George Carter, Mother; Estelle Carter, Three Sisters; Louise Carter, Odessa Burch, and Joyce Carter, Three Brothers; Charles Carter, Milton Carter, and J.M. Carter, and Two Great-Great Grandchildren.

 

 

The family will receive friends on Friday, December 15, 2023, at Sims Funeral Home from 2:00PM until 3:00PM, at Sims Funeral Home in Douglas, GA.

 

 

Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 15, 2023, at The Chapel of Sims Funeral Home in Douglas, GA, at 3:00PM with Rev. Allen Peacock officiating and William Carter Jr. delivering the eulogy. Interment will follow at Satilla Memorial Gardens in Douglas, GA. Following the interment, Trinity church will serve the family.

 

 

Active Pallbearers will include: Tyler Carter, Derrick Carter, Aaron Chaney, Dusty Chaney, James Waylon Smith, and Hunter Smith.

 

 

Honorary Pallbearers will include: Austin Chaney, Kevin Cumbass, Alvin Carver Jr., Waylon Smith, and Willis Chaney.
