Elizabeth Browning Batten, age 73 of Douglas, Georgia passed away on Monday, December 18, 2023, at Coffee Regional Medical Center in Douglas, Georgia following an extended battle with cancer. Mrs. Batten was born in Douglas, Georgia, on November 14, 1950, to the late Tommie Browning Sr. and Wilma Corbitt Browning of Pearson, Georgia.
Survivors include Her husband; Lonnie Batten, her children Lonnie Kevin Batten (Brian Cox) of Douglas, Georgia; Jessica Lynn Batten Gregory (Jack) of Sparks, Georgia; Grandchildren: Skylar Johnson of Douglas, Georgia; Dain Johnson; Caiden Johnson; Jensen Gregory of Sparks, Georgia; step-grandchildren; Jack (Bubba) Gregory of Wilmer, Alabama; Katelyn (Katie) Gregory of Valdosta, Georgia.
Mrs. Batten was preceded in death by her parents Tommie Browning, Sr., and Wilma Corbitt Browning; brother, Tommie Browning, Jr.
She was a loving wife, mother, nana, and aunt to her family. Her happiest moments were when she spent time with her family whether it be a large family reunion or just a grandchild on her lap. Her positive and loving attitude produced many friends throughout her life. She spent many years working with Spectrum Manufacturing and Belk’s of Douglas.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, December 20, 2023, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Sims Funeral Home in Douglas, Georgia
The funeral service will be held on Thursday, December 21, 2023, at 11:00AM at the chapel of Sims Funeral Home with Rev. Willie Wilson officiating. Prelude/Postlude music will be provided by her niece, Karen Batten. Song by CD Eagle When She Flies by Dolly Parton. The interment will follow at Griffin Cemetery in Bushnell, Georgia.
Active pallbearers will be Timothy Anderson, Michael Henry, Jack Gregory, Bruce Kinnard Sr., Bruce Kinnard Jr., and Jason Blankenship.
