Mr. Harold Henry Vickers, age 97, of Douglas, Georgia passed away peacefully Monday evening, March 25, 2024 surrounded by his loved ones. Mr. Vickers, a lifelong resident of Coffee County, was born in Douglas, Georgia on April 18, 1926 to the late Willie Vickers and the late Eudora Pope Vickers. He made his career as a bookkeeper for Wilcox Oil until his retirement. Mr. Vickers was a member of Carver Baptist Church. He had a great love for southern gospel music and was the song leader for many years at Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Atkinson, County. He was a devoted family man who got his greatest earthly enjoyment from his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Along with his parents, Mr. Vickers was preceded in death by his first wife, Anna Faye Wall Vickers and his second wife, Marguerite Rowell Vickers; 2 sons: Van Vickers and Stan Vickers; 2 Sisters: LouNell V. Matthews, Willa Mae V. Baker; 1 half-sister, Bonnie V. McDonald; and 1 brother, Wiley Vickers.

Mr. Vickers is survived by his 3 children: Jan Thurston and Tracie Vickers, both of Douglas, Georgia and Ray Roberts of Axson, Georgia; 11 grandchildren: Scott Vickers, Gideon Vickers, Shelley Whitley, Ryan Thurston, Caleb Vickers, Brady Roberts, Bailey Roberts, Leah Roberts, Lerah Roberts, Christopher Vickers, Brandon Spinks; 11 great grandboys; 1 half-sister, Vicky Giddens; 2 half-brothers: Richard Vickers and Wendell Vickers.

Mr. Vickers’ family will receive friends Thursday afternoon, March 28, 2024 from 2:00 – 3:00 PM at Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Axson, Georgia. His funeral service will be held at 3:00 PM at Mt. Zion Baptist Church with Rev. William Pope and Rev. John Wayne Matthews officiating. Interment will follow in the Mt. Zion Baptist Church Cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be his grandsons: Scott Vickers, Ryan Thurston, Gideon Vickers, Christopher Vickers, Brady Roberts, and Bailey Roberts.
