Joyce Anne Shannon Rewis a native of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, with deep Irish roots, and a beloved resident of South Georgia passed away on March 07, 2024 at the age of 66. Joyce brought the spirit of the Steel City with her to the charming landscapes of South Georgia, where she created a life filled with love, warmth, and an unwavering passion for her family, friends and the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Joyce embraced her dual identity, proudly calling both Pittsburgh and South Georgia her home. Her love for the Pittsburgh Steelers was deeply rooted in her upbringing, and she carried that fervent devotion and iron will with her throughout her life in the South. Whether clad in black and gold or cheering on her beloved team from a distance, Joyce remained a steadfast fan, bridging the gap between her hometown and her adopted community.

She was well known for her kindness, generosity, and vibrant spirit. She brought the best of Pittsburgh’s hospitality to South Georgia and vice versa during her many return visits to her birthplace. She forged countless connections and left an indelible mark on the hearts of those around her. Her absence leaves a void felt deeply by her family and friends.

Joyce is survived by her son Joseph (wife Jessica) Rewis, daughter Michelle (husband Timothy) Waters, daughter Jamie (husband Clint) Stone, and daughter Stephanie Rewis (fiancé Charles Medders). In addition to her four children Joyce is also survived by her thirteen grandchildren Kaylee Roberts, Ashton Martin, Zachary Rewis, Dawson Stone, Jesse Adams, Shannon Waters, Logan Medders, Lexie Medders, Jocelyn Lott, McKenzie Rewis, Maggie Stone, Jackson Rewis, Luke Rewis, and her four great-grandchildren. Together, they will carry forward Joyce’s legacy of loyalty, community spirit, and the joy she brought to others.

Joyce is also survived by her close and devoted friends, Cindy Waters, Eileen Shannon Studeny, Alice Bratka Croft, and Danny “Boonie” Boatright who all stood by her side through good times and bad. Their bond was a testament to the enduring power of friendship, and Joyce often spoke of the joy and support they each brought into her life. Their friendship and the memories they made together were truly treasured by Joyce.

A memorial service to celebrate Joyce’s life and the unique blend of Pittsburgh and South Georgia that she embodied will be held on Saturday, March 23 at 3 p.m. at the Alma Church of God, 202 West 10th Street, Alma, Georgia 31510 with a celebration to follow thereafter at Teakwood Occasions, 254 Teakwood Road, Alma, Georgia 31510. A celebration of her life will also be held in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on a date to be determined. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to the American Cancer Society in Joyce’s memory.

As we remember Joyce Anne Shannon Rewis, let us honor her by cherishing the enduring legacy of love and passion she leaves behind. May she rest in peace, forever.

Condolences may be left at www.ricketsonfuneralhome.com.
