The Coffee Trojans added a little salt to an already open wound and delivered a final, decisive blow to the Jenkins Warriors Thursday afternoon at Charles Wilson Field in Douglas, defeating the Warriors 15-0 in four innings. Tuesday, the Trojans swept a double header at Jenkins 15-1 and 18-2. The win Thursday capped a 10-game winning streak going back to March 29 against Ware. Over these last 10 games, the Trojans have outscored their opponents 144-26.

Coffee scored eight runs in the second inning, four in the third, and three in the fourth to complete the season sweep against Jenkins. Zae Smith was 2-3 with three RBI, a walk, and three runs scored. In his last at-bat in the bottom of the fourth, Smith hit a solo home run on a 2-0 count that ended the game courtesy of the 15-run run rule. The homer was Smith’s third of the year and the 20th overall for the Trojans.

Payton Bryant had three hits. Cannon Jones and Ben Roberts had two hits. Jones and Mason Lott also scored twice.

The Trojans used a conservative approach on the mound. The goal was to get a few guys some work then get them out with their arms rested. Four pitchers threw an inning each: Bryant, Roberts, Michael Strickland, and Weston Brown. Bryant picked up the win.

The game ended the regular season for Coffee. The Trojans are 25-5 and enter the postseason as the #3 seed from Region 1-5A. They face Chamblee in the first round of the state playoffs on the road Tuesday.
