Chalk another illegal drug arrest up to a bicycle. According to a Douglas Police Department incident report, shortly after 8 p.m. on May 24, a Douglas police officer noticed an individual on a bicycle run the stop sign at Pine Street and South Gaskin Avenue. The officer turned around to stop the individual when the suspect stopped at a South Gaskin Avenue residence. The officer pulled into the freshman campus to see what happened next.

The report says that the officer knew that Anthony Mabry, 34, lived there. Mabry was a suspected drug dealer, according to the report. After a few minutes, the individual on the bike left the home and took the trash can to the road. Then he jumped on the bike and headed north on Gaskin. The officer followed the suspect and stopped him. The officer found suspected marijuana on the individual. The officer confiscated the marijuana then let the individual go.

The officer contacted the Department of Community Supervision and learned that Mabry was on felony probation and had a Fourth Amendment waiver. The officer, along with two other officers, went to the home. Mabry was at the location and the officers searched the residence, the report says. Officers found a handgun, suspected marijuana, suspected ecstasy, a scale with illegal drug residue on it, and packaging material.

Mabry was arrested and charged with possession of a Schedule II Controlled Substance, possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon (first offender), and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime. He remains in the Coffee County Jail.
