The American Hospital Association (AHA), in partnership with the Georgia Hospital Association, honored Vicki Lewis, president and CEO of Coffee Regional Medical Center, with the Partnership for Action Grassroots Champion Award. As a Grassroots Champion, Vicki is being recognized for her exceptional leadership in advocating for and supporting hospitals or health systems through grassroots activities.

The Grassroots Champion Award was created to recognize those hospital and health system leaders who most effectively educate elected officials on major issues affecting the hospital or health system’s vital role in the community, who have done an exemplary job in broadening the base of community support for the hospital or health system, and who tirelessly advocate for the hospital or health system and its patients.

“Vicki’s leadership and dedication to advancing the mission of America’s hospitals and health systems has made a difference for the patients and communities we serve,” said Rebecca Jolley, AHA regional executive. “This special recognition acknowledges the hard work she has demonstrated as an advocate for advancing health in America.”

“Vicki is a long-time advocate and well-respected leader who works tirelessly to advance health care at the local, state, and national levels,” said GHA President and CEO Caylee Noggle. “She is actively engaged as a member of the Georgia Hospital Association Board of Trustees and serves as an excellent role model for how to educate policy makers on health care issues. We are pleased to support AHA in recognizing her role in health care advocacy with this prestigious award.”

The award is presented annually to one individual from each state. Vicki is one of 50 individuals honored this year from across the country.
