Wiregrass Georgia Technical College Practical Nursing (LPN) students received their nursing pins in a recent pinning ceremony on the Ben Hill-Irwin Campus. The nursing pins not only signify hard work and dedication but are also a physical symbol of their transition into nursing. The pinning ceremony is more than a nursing tradition, it is a symbol of the nursing students’ hard work and dedication toward their coursework and clinicals. Not only does it mark the completion of student coursework, but this ceremony honors nursing graduates who will work in a career where they will have to be selfless for the good of others.

The ceremony gives a grand send-off to nursing students signaling the end of their academic career and at the same time launching them into the professional world that welcomes them. Students receiving their pins include Keirra Andrews, Fitzgerald; Kasey Barnes, Fitzgerald; Dana Black, Douglas; Kayla Davis, Douglas; Neoshi Dixon, Douglas; Kema Durden, Adel; Brandy Fleming, Fitzgerald; Sariah Gaulden-Hodge, Fitzgerald; Donna Harper, Ambrose; Savannah Harrell, Alapaha; Jodeci Harris, Fitzgerald; Abby McDonald, Fitzgerald; Nakoshia Moore, Douglas; Jaime Pounds, Ocilla; Tenika Riley, Tifton; Zharia Robinson, Douglas; Adriana Ross, Alapaha; Shantavia Ross, Ocilla; Kelsey Sparrow. The Practical Nursing program is offered at the Valdosta, Ben Hill-Irwin, and Coffee Campuses. The Ben Hill-Irwin Campus accepts new students into this program each Fall Semester.  Beginning Fall Semester 2024 the Associate of Science in Nursing (RN) program will start on the Ben Hill-Irwin Campus.  The LPN program recently was ranked in the top ten best in Georgia.  The college was ranked #6 according to NursingProcess.org.  New students are being accepted now for the Fall Semester, classes start August 12.
