A package containing as much as $50,000 worth of methamphetamine was seized in a multi-agency operation in Jeff Davis County last week. According to a press release from the Jeff Davis County Sheriff’s Office, on Thursday, September 12, 2024 at approximately 4:30 p.m., Jeff Davis County drug investigators and deputies along with Appling County investigators, the Drug Enforcement Administration, and Homeland Security initiated a search warrant at a residence in Jeff Davis County following the delivery of a suspicious package. The package had been intercepted and contained two kilograms of methamphetamine.
The package was delivered to the address to confirm the identity of the receiving party. The methamphetamine had been smuggled inside a package containing a horse saddle. One man was arrested and charged with trafficking in methamphetamine and currently remains in custody.
The street value of this seizure was in the $40,000-$50,000 range.
“Make no mistake about it, the two kilos of methamphetamine were destined for the Jeff Davis County community and surrounding counties. This office will continue to work diligently with our law enforcement partners to ensure that those responsible for this level of drug trafficking are apprehended,” stated Jeff Davis County Sheriff Preston Bohannon.
