A 35-year-old Douglas man was jailed last month on aggravated assault charges following an alleged domestic incident that occurred in Touchton Woods.

According to a report from the Douglas Police Department, on September 15, 2024, around 3:30 a.m., officers received a call of an incident in Touchton Woods. The report states that an individual, identified as Michael Davis, 35, allegedly picked up a woman and slammed her on a concrete surface at the house, resulting in injuries that required medical treatment.

The report says that Davis and two female subjects had been drinking and, at some point, Davis became upset. An argument ensued and Davis allegedly slammed one of the women on the concrete.

In addition to those three, there were two female juveniles at the residence. The juveniles saw Davis allegedly thrown the victim to the ground. The victim suffered cuts to her hands and had a large knot on her head, the report says.

While officers were on the scene, the report says that Davis crawled out from underneath the house, went inside, and got a steak. He then took the steak outside, the report says, and went underneath the house. He began eating the steak under the house, according to the report. Officers found the space under the house and ordered Davis to exit. The report says that Davis eventually began coming toward them but stopped at the edge of the house and refused to come all the way out. He began to argue with officers but they were able to get handcuffs on him. However, the report says that he refused to stand up. Officers attempted to carry him, the report says, but then he began kicking at them. Davis initially refused to stand but eventually did.

Davis was transported to the Coffee County Jail. The female victim was taken to Savannah for further treatment. She suffered a gash to the back of her head and a brain injury. Davis was charged with aggravated assault (family violence) and two counts of cruelty to children in the third degree. He remains in the Coffee County Jail.
