On September 29, 2024, officers from the Coffee County Sheriff’s Office responded to a disorderly person call on Estlee Mercer Road in Douglas. The call resulted in the arrest of Stanley Keith Mills, 48, of Douglas, on disorderly conduct charges.

A report of the incident states an officer responded to the Estlee Mercer Road address and spoke to Mills. According to the report, Mills began yelling at the deputy and telling him to get off his property. The deputy asked where a 75-year-old female subject was. The female was the victim in this incident, according to the report. Mills replied that he didn’t know where she was but she had COVID-19 and was getting on his nerves, the report says.

The deputy instructed Mills to stand by a few fallen trees while he looked for the victim. The report says that Mills continued yelling at the deputy. The officer eventually placed Mills in handcuffs then continued looking for the victim. He found her in her car, “visibly shaken and crying,” the report says.

In the report, the victim said that since Hurricane Helene hit, Mills had been acting aggressively towards her. She was scared, the report says, because Mills was “on meth.” She said he had grabbed her multiple times and yelled in her face. The report says that she had a knot on left forearm.

Mills was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct and transported to the Coffee County Jail.
