Jeff Davis officers arrest wanted fugitives and suspected drug dealers — at least of which had a Coffee County address

Deputies from the Jeff Davis County Sheriff’s Office spent the latter portion of December tracking down wanted fugitives and alleged drug dealers, at least one of which had a Douglas address.

On December 16, 2024, the Georgia State Patrol conducted a traffic stop and requested assistance. Jeff Davis Sheriff’s deputies responded and arrived on the scene. During the traffic stop, officers found a quantity of marijuana, several illicit prescription medications, and a gun.

Cody Hughes was arrested and charged with possession of Schedule IV drugs (clonazepam) with intent to distribute, possession of Schedule IV drugs (alprazolam) with intent to distribute, possession of firearm during commission of a crime, and possession of drug-related objects.

Later that day, the Jeff Davis Sheriff’s Drug Unit located a vehicle being driven by a wanted man. As a result, the driver, Shane Norman, was arrested for an outstanding probation warrant and was transported to the Jeff Davis County Jail.

On December 17, 2024, Jeff Davis Sheriff’s Drug Unit arrested an individual who was the subject of an investigation for the distribution of methamphetamine. The investigation resulted in the arrest of Don Ellis, who was charged with sale of methamphetamine and a probation violation.

On December 18, 2024, Jeff Davis deputies arrested a fugitive with additional charges. During a traffic stop, the driver, Angel Martinage, was discovered to be a wanted fugitive from Toombs County. Following a search of her vehicle, Martinage was arrested for a probation violation and possession of methamphetamine.

On December 20, 2024, the Jeff Davis Sheriff’s Drug Unit initiated search at a residence suspected of distributing controlled substances. During the search, officers found a wanted fugitive, quantities of methamphetamine, and a gun. Alex Peavey was arrested and charged with a probation violation, possession of methamphetamine, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and possession of drug-related objects. Magen Parlor was charged with possession of methamphetamine, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, and possession of drug-related objects.

Later that day, at approximately 8:30 pm, Jeff Davis deputies located another wanted suspect. The wanted person quickly entered a convenience store parking lot to avoid law enforcement. The driver exited a vehicle to evade officers but did not escape capture. The driver, Timothy Mason, of a Douglas address, was arrested and charged with a probation violation, possession of a Schedule I Controlled Substance, possession of drug-related objects, open container, and driving with no license. As a part of his probated sentence, Mason was banished from Jeff Davis County.

On December 21, 2024, Jeff Davis deputies conducted an investigation on a traffic stop. As a result, deputies found a quarter pound of methamphetamine and a gun in the vehicle. Michael Griffin was arrested and charged with trafficking methamphetamine, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession of drug-related objects. Natalie Merritt was arrested and charged with trafficking methamphetamine and possession of drug related objects.
