A disorderly patient call in the Oak Park community ended with a 44-year-old Douglas woman allegedly kicking an EMT and then going to jail.

Early on the afternoon of December 20, 2024, deputies responded to a Second Avenue address in reference to a woman lying in her driveway near the road. Initially, a deputy in the area learned what was going on and stopped to see if the woman, identified as Lakeisha Williams, 44, of Douglas, was OK. An incident report from the Coffee County Sheriff’s Office states that Williams became irate with the deputy and instructed her to leave.

A short time later, a neighbor called EMS to check on Williams. The report says that neighbors could see Williams falling down and laying in the yard. When EMS arrived, the report says that Williams “attempted to get physical with them.” EMS called a deputy to assist. A second deputy arrived and saw Williams sitting on the front porch yelling at people in the yard. A family member stated that she was afraid of Williams.

The deputy asked EMS if Williams had a medical issue; she was told no, Williams “was just drunk.” The officer went to the porch to speak with Williams. The report says that Williams was not cooperative and showed no signs of calming down. The officer attempted to arrest Williams; the report says that while Williams didn’t fight, she didn’t exactly cooperate, either. EMS was still on the scene and during the arrest, the report states that Williams kicked an EMT in the shin.

Williams was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct and willfully interfering with an emergency medical profession by use of threats or violence. She was transported to the Coffee County Jail and later released on bond.
