A 4th Amendment waiver search at a local motel on Christmas night yielded a quantity of suspected illegal drugs. As a result of the search, Walter Gene Outler, 69, of Douglas, who was the subject of the search, and another occupant of the room, Tangela Jackson, 46, also of Douglas, were both arrested and jailed.

A report from the Douglas Police Department states that around 10:30 p.m., officers went to a room at a North Peterson Avenue motel. They knocked on the door and announced who they were. They knew that Outler was in the room and that he had a 4th Amendment waiver. The report says the officers could hear two people in the room. Jackson answered the door and let the officers in.

The officers searched the room and found several different types of illegal drugs along with a large amount of cash. Among the drugs officers found were a bag with 6.6 grams of suspected marijuana, a bag with 0.3 grams of suspected cocaine, a bag with 0.5 grams of suspected cocaine, a bag with 1.1 grams of suspected MDMA (two tablets), a joint, one ciprofloxatcin/hydrochloride tablet, four zolpidem (Ambien) tablets, and two temazepam (Restoril) tablets. Officers also found a single piece of crack cocaine in the toilet in a pill bottle, according to the report.

As a result, Outler was charged with two counts of possession of a Schedule II Controlled Substance, two counts of possession of a Schedule IV Controlled Substance, one count of possession of a Schedule I Controlled Substance, and tampering with evidence. Jackson was charged with tampering with evidence. Jackson was released on bond while Outler remains in the Coffee County Jail.
