An 18-year-old from Douglas was arrested, jailed, and released on bond after he allegedly ran through a fence while driving under the influence, tore the bumper off his Lexus GS350, then fled the scene.

According to an incident report from the Coffee County Sheriff’s Office, around 1:30 a.m. on February 7, 2025, a deputy responded the area around Greenville Circle in reference to the screeching of tires and screaming. While traveling to the location, the deputy noticed a suspicious vehicle. It appeared to have been in an accident and was missing its rear bumper.

The deputy spoke to the driver, identified as William Pinola, 18, of Douglas, whom the officer suspected of driving under the influence of alcohol. Pinola mentioned that his girlfriend lived at a nearby residence. The deputy went to her home and she reported that Pinola had been at her house. He was mad because, the report says, his car was damaged and he didn’t know where his bumper was.

The deputy left the home and rode around in the neighborhood. He eventually found a damaged fence with a Lexus-branded bumper on the ground. Pinola was arrested and charged with hit and run, DUI, and failure to maintain lane. He was transported to the Coffee County Jail where he was later released on bond.
