On a bright and cheerful afternoon, the Douglas-Coffee County Chamber of Commerce proudly joined Hometown Furniture in celebrating the Grand Opening of their newly rebranded store with a special ribbon-cutting ceremony. Hometown Furniture, formerly known as Badcock & More Home Furnishings, is a testament to resilience and community strength, having faced unexpected challenges in 2024 and emerging stronger than ever.

Owned by Douglas native Matt Pridemore and managed by his renowned team of furniture experts—many of whom have been with him for decades—Hometown Furniture stands ready to exceed expectations in both quality and service. The program commenced with a warm welcome from Chelsea Preston Graham of the Chamber before Pridemore took the stage to share his inspiring journey in the furniture business, a legacy begun by his parents, Frank and Vicki Pridemore of Douglas.

Pridemore expressed deep gratitude for his exceptional team and the unwavering support of the Douglas community. His heartfelt words were followed by congratulatory remarks from Chamber Board Chair Ben Floyd and City of Douglas Mayor Tony Paulk, both of whom praised Pridemore’s dedication to local business and his commitment to the community.

A particularly touching moment came when special guest and dear friend Coffee High School Trojans head football coach Mike Coe recounted his friendship with Pridemore. He recognized him not just as a successful businessman but as a generous supporter of local athletics, highlighting his servant’s heart and steadfast contributions to the football teams that Coe has had the privilege of coaching, including the Coffee High School Trojans.

Further demonstrating his commitment to community service, Pridemore invited JoAnne Lewis to the stage. Lewis, who is currently working alongside The Hope Initiative to renovate the former Hope Center in the Oak Park community, shared heartfelt thanks for Pridemore’s generous donation of 32 mattresses to furnish the facility’s new bunk beds. The Hope Center will serve as a haven for volunteers assisting in ongoing disaster recovery efforts, and Pridemore’s contribution is a shining example of hometown generosity. The emotional moment was sealed with a warm embrace between Lewis and Pridemore, underscoring the deep connections that make Douglas a truly special place.

Following the ceremony, the crowd gathered inside the beautifully renovated Hometown Furniture showroom for the official ribbon cutting. With cheers and applause, Pridemore and his esteemed team embarked on this exciting new chapter, ready to serve the community that has supported them every step of the way.

The Douglas-Coffee County Chamber of Commerce extends its heartfelt congratulations to Hometown Furniture and looks forward to the many ways this beloved hometown business will continue to enrich the lives of those in Coffee County.

Hometown Furniture Douglas is located at 700 N. Peterson Avenue here in Douglas. You can reach their store by telephone at 912-384-7372.
