A 44-year-old Douglas man allegedly called 911 repeatedly and cussed out the operators because he wanted to go to jail, according to a report from the Douglas Police Department.
The report states that around 11:15 p.m. on March 1, 2025, an officer responded to a North Pearl Avenue address in reference to a man calling 911 and cussing out the operators. The officer spoke with Lee Barfield, 44, who said that he kept making the calls because he wanted to go to jail. Barfield’s mother stated that he had not been taking his medication and she was taking him to Unison. The report states that the officer told her that she had said she was taking him to Unison the first time this happened and she hadn’t done so yet. The report says that Barfield kept yelling at the officer to take him to jail.
The officer obliged Barfield and placed him under arrest. He was transported to the Coffee County Jail on a charge of unlawful conduct during a 911 call/making a false report. He remains incarcerated.
