In a report issued by SafeWise, Douglas is the #2 safest city in Georgia. The report
showed that Douglas has a violent crime rate of 0.0 thus far for 2025. In 2024, the violent crime rate was 0.9. It was also 0.9 in 2023. The property crime rate for this year is 3.2 compared to 2.0 last year and 6.2 in 2023. Here are the top 10 safest cities according to SafeWise:
According to the latest State of Safety survey, crime in Georgia tends toward violence. Georgians reported the highest level of gun violence experiences in the nation and the fifth highest level of violent crime experiences. On the other hand, Georgians were among those least likely to experience property crimes other than package theft.
Eleven of this year’s 20 safest cities saw a drop in property crime year over year, and violent crime dropped in nine. Senoia claims this year’s title of Georgia’s safest city. About 36% of Georgians said they feel safe in their state, which is the fifth lowest percentage in the nation. It also represents a decrease from last year, when 37% felt safe in The Peach State. Contrarily, a smaller percentage of Georgians feel a general sense of worry about crime this year (54% compared to 66% year over year).
A smaller percentage of Georgians experienced property crime and package theft compared to the previous year. Concern about these crimes is also down year over year across The Peach State, but nearly two in five Georgians added security or safety measures in the eight months prior to the survey.
- 20% of Georgians said they had experienced property crime in the 8 months prior to the survey compared to 27% the previous year (US 27%).
- Only three states reported lower percentages of property crime experiences compared to Georgia: Massachusetts (16%), North Carolina (17%), and Rhode Island (19%).
- Despite drops in property crime experiences, Georgians’ concerns about property crime barely budged from 60% last year to 59% this year.
- Package theft experiences fell from 42% to 41% year over year, which is the sixth highest percentage in the nation (US 37%).

In Georgia, concern about violent crime rose year over year, as did violent crime experiences. Georgians are among those most likely to worry about and experience violent crime.
- 68% of Georgians said they worry about violent crime on a daily basis—that’s the fifth highest percentage in the nation and 9 percentage points higher than the national average.
- Georgians’ violent crime worries increased from 60% the previous year.
- 21% of Georgians experienced a violent crime in the 8 months prior to the survey—the fourth highest percentage in the country.
- Georgians’ violent crime experiences increased from 20% the previous year.
- 40% of Georgians use some form of personal protection (US 35%), and firearms are the most popular choice at 19%.
- Georgians are among those most likely to use a personal safety app (GA 7%, US 4%).
- 86 Georgia cities met the criteria to be considered for ranking.
- Georgia’s 20 safest cities have an average violent crime rate of 0.77 incidents per 1,000 residents and an average property crime rate of 8.19.
- Douglas reported zero violent crimes and was the only safest city in Georgia to report zero motor vehicle thefts.
