A Coffee County Jail officer has been arrested and charged with giving to or possession by inmates prohibited items after he allegedly supplied an inmate with Black and Mild tobacco products and let her out of her cell to perform sex acts for him.

A report from the Coffee County Sheriff’s Office states that in late April, a jail officer notified a deputy that a jail officer had allegedly let a female inmate out of her cell to masturbate in front of him. Officers had also learned that the jail officer, identified as Herman Wallace, 28, had given the inmate Black and Milds. By the time officers learned what had happened, the inmate had been transferred to prison and was not interviewed, the report says. However, the report also states that there was video footage of the inmate allegedly performing the sex act. There was also evidence of Wallace letting her out of her cell.

On Monday, April 28, 2025, officers asked Wallace to come to the sheriff’s office for an interview. Following the interview, Wallace was arrested and booked into the Coffee County Jail. He was released on a $5,500 property bond.
