On May 29, 2025, the Douglas-Coffee Drug Unit, in partnership with the Coffee County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigative Division (CID), carried out a focused patrol operation in the Green Acres community. This targeted enforcement action also included members of the Sheriff’s Office Patrol Division and command staff and marks the latest phase of a sustained crime reduction initiative that began in January 2025.

Since its inception, the initiative has resulted in numerous arrests from the Green Acres area. The most recent operation led to the apprehension of eight additional individuals on a range of criminal charges and outstanding warrants.

Among those arrested was 57-year-old Seaborn Franklin Batten, who was transferred to the Atkinson County Sheriff’s Office due to active warrants in that jurisdiction related to financial crimes involving insufficient funds checks.

Here are the arrests and charges:

  • Luis Santos was arrested for violating the terms of his probation, originally stemming from a Driving Under the Influence offense under O.C.G.A. 40-6-391.

  • Melissa Harper and Christy Rollison were each taken into custody on Contempt of Court charges, pursuant to O.C.G.A. 15-1-4.

  • Johnny Nelson was apprehended for probation violation related to a previous conviction for possession of controlled substances, referencing O.C.G.A. 16-13-30.

  • Wendell Johnson faces multiple charges including Burglary in the First Degree and Theft by Taking following the theft and recovery of a stolen four-wheeler on May 28, 2025. His charges are pursuant to O.C.G.A. 16-7-1 and O.C.G.A. 16-8-2.

  • Bryan Lee Alexander was arrested for multiple traffic-related offenses, including Driving with a Suspended License, Driving with Suspended Registration, and Operating a Vehicle Without Valid Insurance. His charges are pursuant O.C.G.A. 40-5-121, O.C.G.A. 40-6-15 AND O.C.G.A. 40-6-10

  • Isaac Nunez Mejia faces charges of Driving Under the Influence, Driving Without a Valid License, and Driving with No Registration all being an offense under O.C.G.A. 40-5-121,  O.C.G.A. 40-6-15 and  O.C.G.A. 40-6-391a

The enhanced patrol operations are part of a proactive strategy developed in response to residents’ concerns over criminal activity in the Green Acres community. Sheriff Fred Cole reiterated his department’s dedication to restoring peace and safety to the area. “The citizens of the Green Acres community asked us to take great measures to reduce crime and unwanted activity in their neighborhood, and that’s what we have done and will continue to do,” said Sheriff Cole. “I am thankful for the man-hours put in by our deputies, the CID and drug unit that execute the plan laid out for eradicating crime from this area.”

The Coffee County Sheriff’s Office assures the public that these efforts are ongoing, with continued patrols and increased community engagement as key components of its crime reduction strategy.
