A 41-year-old Douglas man staying at the Western Inn was arrested after he allegedly made eight false 911 calls in about a two-and-a-half-hour period.

According to the Douglas Police Department, Soloman Abebe, 41, made eight 911 calls on May 25, 2025, and May 26, 2025, between the hours of 10:40 p.m. and 1:07 a.m. Officers had responded earlier to the location and told Abebe that he could not call 911 unless there was an emergency. After the visit from officers, Abebe allegedly continued to call 911.

When officers went to Abebe’s room the last time, the report says he refused to open the door. A responding officer used the manager’s key to get inside the room, at which time Abebe was arrested.

He was charged with unlawful conduct during 911 calls and transported to the Coffee County Jail where he was later released.
