The Coffee County Sheriff’s Office, in coordination with the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, has arrested two individuals following the death of a 7-month-old infant who had sustained signs of prolonged abuse. The child passed away on Monday, June 9, 2025, after multiple medical interventions were unsuccessful.

The investigation began on Friday, June 6, 2025, at approximately 9:50 a.m., when Coffee County 911 received a call regarding a medical emergency involving an unresponsive infant at a residence on Kamera Road. EMS arrived to find the infant without a pulse. First responders began life-saving measures and transported the child to Coffee Regional Medical Center.

Medical personnel at Coffee Regional observed signs consistent with physical abuse and made the decision to transfer the infant to Savannah Memorial Hospital for specialized care. Despite extensive efforts by medical staff, the child was pronounced deceased three days later.

A thorough investigation by Coffee County Sheriff’s Office detectives and GBI agents revealed the infant had suffered repeated physical abuse, including head trauma, fractured ribs, and multiple broken bones.

According to investigators, the infant had been left in the care of the mother’s boyfriend, Guillermo “Will” Benvenutti Pineda, age 29, of Douglas, on the morning of June 6. Authorities determined that Pineda had a history of abusing the infant. Further investigation showed that the child’s mother, Hannah Nicole Green, age 27, was aware of the ongoing abuse and attempted to conceal evidence and mislead investigators after the incident.

On June 11, 2025, both individuals were taken into custody without incident. Pineda was charged with malice murder, felony murder, aggravated battery, and cruelty to children in the 1st degree. Green was charged with cruelty to children in the 2nd degree and tampering with evidence.

Both suspects are being held at the Coffee County Jail.

“I want to thank the detectives of the Coffee County Sheriff’s Office and our partners at the GBI for their tireless work on this heartbreaking case,” stated Sheriff Fred Cole. “Most importantly, I want to issue a reminder to our community: If you suspect abuse — speak up. You may be the only voice a child has. Our children are counting on us to protect them.”

The GBI Medical Examiner’s Office in Pooler, Georgia, will conduct a full autopsy to determine the official cause and manner of death. The investigation remains active and ongoing. Upon conclusion, the case will be turned over to the Waycross Judicial Circuit District Attorney’s Office for prosecution.
