On June 12, 2025, a Douglas police officer conducted a traffic stop which led to the arrest of Clemon Carter, Jr., 61, for allegedly driving with a suspended license.
Carter was taken into custody and transported to the Coffee County Jail. Upon arrival at the jail, officers discovered that Carter had a small amount of suspected crack cocaine concealed in his sock. The Douglas-Coffee Drug Unit was notified and responded to the scene. Drug unit agents took over the investigation from there.
Carter was subsequently charged with one count of possession of a controlled substance along with several traffic citations. Carter remains in custody at the jail.
