Thursday morning, Jon Worrell, who stands accused of orchestrating the murder of his wife, Doris, on September 20, 2006, appeared in court for arraignment and entered a not guilty plea.
Worrell was arrested on Tuesday, May 20, 2025, in Maryville, Missouri, and charged with malice murder, felony murder, aggravated battery, and conspiracy to commit murder. He was extradited to Coffee County and was booked into the Coffee County Jail on Thursday, May 22, 2025.
On June 10, 2025, a Grand Jury indicted Worrell on malice murder, felony murder, and conspiracy to commit murder charges. On June 26, 2025, Worrell was in court for a bond hearing before Superior Court Dwayne Gillis. Judge Gillis made his ruling on June 30 and denied Worrell bond because the Court believed he was a flight risk. Since his wife’s murder, Worrell has lived in Fernandina Beach, Fla.; Costa Rica; British Columbia; Kansas; and Missouri.
