On July 21, 2025, an individual who was allegedly driving a vehicle with a suspended registration and no insurance on a suspended license led officers on a chase – directly to her house.

According to a report from the Douglas Police Department, an officer saw a 2013 Kia Optima in the Jet store on Southwest Bowens Mill Road. The officer ran the Kia’s plate and it came back as having a suspended registration and no insurance. The owner, identified as Angie Johnson, 45, of Douglas, also had a suspended license.

As the officer began to drive in the direction of the Kia, the vehicle accelerated and left the parking lot. The report says Johnson was driving erratically and cutting off other vehicles, including a tractor-trailer. The red light at Southwest Bowens Mill Road and Highway 32 West caught Johnson. By that time, the officer had turned his blue lights on to initiate a traffic stop but Johnson wouldn’t stop the vehicle, the report says. She stopped at the red light but once it turned green, she accelerated and continued at a high rate of speed.

E911 informed the officer that Johnson lived on Quincey Batten Loop, which wasn’t far from where they were. A county unit and a state trooper joined the chase as well. Johnson pulled into her driveway and went inside her home. County units arrived and officers arrested Johnson.

She was charged with a number of traffic violations, including fleeing/attempting to elude, driving with a suspended license, failure to maintain lane, reckless driving, and others. She was transported to the Coffee County Jail and later released.
