South Georgia State College (SGSC) is excited to welcome new and returning students to campus as the Fall 2025 semester officially begins on Monday, August 18.
No matter where you are, SGSC has an option that works for you—on campus in Douglas or Waycross, online, or at Valdosta State through its Entry Program. The college offers more than 20 associate degree pathways and five bachelor’s degree programs designed to meet the needs of today’s students and the region’s growing workforce. The new academic year will bring opportunities with the newly formed Rodeo Club, the beginning of an associate pathway leading to a degree in agriculture, and a new Emergency Services Management option in the Bachelor of Science in Management program which will be offered 100 percent online.
Outside the classroom, SGSC offers a vibrant student life with clubs, campus events, and intramural sports. Students can also cheer on the SGSC Hawks during fall and spring semesters. The college proudly competes in the Georgia Collegiate Athletic Association and the National Junior College Athletic Association with four competitive programs: men’s basketball, women’s soccer, softball, and baseball.
“SGSC is more than a place to earn a degree. It’s a community where students are supported, challenged, and encouraged to grow,” said SGSC Interim President Dr. Greg Tanner. “We’re excited to begin a new semester filled with opportunity and Hawk pride.”
Student housing is available on the Douglas Campus, with plenty of activities planned to help residents settle in and make connections. From Welcome Week events to academic support and student involvement opportunities, SGSC is committed to helping every student feel at home.
