Douglas police arrested a 30-year-old who allegedly ran from an officer who was questioning him at the North Madison Avenue Park after hours.

The incident report from the police department states that an officer saw two people in the park just after 11 p.m. on August 1, 2025. The report states that the officer could smell marijuana on Quinterrious Allen, 30, of Douglas. The officer asked Allen to pull everything out of his pockets and he had a small amount of marijuana, the report states. The officer checked his name and saw that he had two active warrants in other counties.

As the officer was checking the warrants, the report says that Allen ran from the park toward Georgian Woods Apartments. The officer went to the apartments and checked the unit that he thought Allen was in. He wasn’t there but the officer stayed on the property. He then saw another individual, identified as Darryl Lane, knock on the unit next door and say that it was OK for Allen to come out. Lane also said that if police had entered Lane’s apartment, he would have gone to jail because Allen “had it all laying on the bed,” the report states. At one point, Allen and Lane exchanged words and Lane said that “he would shoot someone,” according to the report.

The door to Lane’s apartment was open and the officer went in with his gun drawn. He found Allen in the apartment as well as a small amount of marijuana on the bed. Lane was detained briefly but let go without being charged.

Allen was transported to the Coffee County Jail and charged with being in a city park after hours, resisting officers, and purchase/possession/manufacture/distribution/sale of marijuana. He was booked into the jail and later released.
