Maggie Brown turned in another strong performance in the circle Tuesday night but it wasn’t enough to hold off the Veterans Warhawks. Coffee dropped its first region game of the year on the road 4-3. Brown struck out 10 and only gave up one walk.

The Lady Trojans didn’t get on the board until the fifth inning when Allie Pridgen scored on a Veterans error. Coffee added two more in the seventh, one on a single by Jocelyn Fender that scored Channah Smith and another when Ella Winters singled in Fender.

Veterans scored one in the first, two in the fourth, and one in the fifth, eventually winning 4-3.

Winters led the way offensively; she went 2-4 with an RBI. All of Coffee’s hits were singles.

The Lady Trojans are 4-2 overall and 0-1 in region play. The region schedule continues Thursday with a doubleheader against Veterans at Faircloth Field. Game one begins at 5 p.m.
