Mr. Russell Collins, age 89, of Douglas, Georgia, passed away Sunday afternoon, September 14, 2025 at Coffee Regional Medical Center surrounded by his loving family following a recent decline in health.
Mr. Collins, a native of Coffee County, was born September 4, 1936 to the late Corbitt Collins and the late Myrtice Russ Collins. He made his career as a local business owner, operating Collins Business Machines for 40 years before his retirement. After retirement he still enjoyed working on typewriters along and along. He was a member of College Avenue Baptist Church and he found great enjoyment singing in church and sharing his love for his Lord and Savior.
Mr. Collins leaves behind his loving wife of 65 years, Grace Carver Collins of Douglas, Georgia; 3 daughters: Ann Tucker (Mickey) of Douglas, Georgia, Jan Smith (Zip Grantham) of Ambrose, Georgia, Sonya Coleman of Douglas, Georgia; 6 grandchildren: Shannon Tucker (Mica), Jana Ricketson (Rex), Courtney Carr (Robby), and Haley Smith (Boris Escoto), all of Douglas, Georgia, along with Maci Robinson (Hunter) and Kameron Cole (Jasmine), both of Alma, Georgia; 8 great grandchildren; as well as a number of extended family members.
Mr. Collins’ family will receive friends at Ricketson Funeral Home Chapel on Tuesday evening, September 16, 2025 from 5:00 PM – 9:00 PM. A funeral service will be held to honor Mr. Collins on Wednesday, September 17, 2025 at 11:00 AM at College Avenue Baptist Church with Rev. Terry Reagan and Rev. Jimmy Littlejohn officiating. Musical selections will be presented by Tammy Altman. Burial will follow in Griffin Cemetery.
Active Pallbearers will include Tucker Carr, Channing Tucker, Bentley Escoto, Shannon Tucker, Kameron Cole, Carver Ricketson, and Tal Hutto.
Honorary Pallbearers will include Ottis and Carolyn Bryan, Joanne Williams, and the congregation of College Avenue Baptist Church.
