Opponents of the 60-house commercial poultry farm that is set to be built in southern Coffee County on a 1000-acre tract of land that borders the Satilla River will hold a town hall meeting Tuesday between 5 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. in the Dogwood Room at Central Square Complex in Douglas.
At the meeting, there will be pictures of the site and you will be able to ask questions regarding the potential impact of the project.
In July, five plaintiffs – Bruce Brooker, Rebecca Temple, Legrand Roberts, Hamp Adams, and Sims Funeral Homes, Inc., — filed suit against the developers in hopes of halting the project. The judge assigned to the case, Judge Kelly Brooks, granted a 30-day injunction ceasing all physical development of the property and scheduled a hearing for August 12. Due to several filings from the defendants, including a motion to dismiss, Judge Kelly Brooks extended the injunction and set a new hearing for September 29 at the Coffee County Courthouse.
