A side-by-side vehicle accident tragically claimed the life of an 11-year-old Coffee County elementary school student Saturday night.
Around 8 p.m. Saturday, first responders answered a call south of Douglas regarding a side-by-side accident. One of the occupants, 11-year-old Treyvion Edwards, suffered serious injuries as a result of the accident. When emergency personnel arrived, they administered life-saving measures but his injuries were too serious. Treyvion was not driving the vehicle when the crash took place.
Treyvion was a popular and well-liked student at Indian Creek Elementary School, both by students and staff alike. A talented athlete, he excelled at football and basketball. Monday was an emotional day at Indian Creek as students remembered their classmate and staff recalled a fun-loving and beloved young man who brightened every room he entered.
The Coffee County School System had counselors on campus Monday to assist the students in coping with their grief. During recess, Treyvion’s classmates formed a circle around a football and held hands in prayer, a touching display of the love and respect they have for their fallen friend.
Treyvion is the second member of the Indian Creek family to lose his life in an ATV accident this year. In February, Gage White, 12, passed away due to injuries he sustained in a four-wheeler accident. Gage was a student at Coffee Middle School; however, he had attended elementary school at Indian Creek.
