A 33-year-old Douglas man, identified as Markease Robinson, was arrested on multiple charges after he allegedly fled from a police officer who attempted to stop him after the officer saw Robinson walking in the middle of West Jefferson Street.

The incident happened on September 20, 2025, at approximately 2 p.m. According to an incident report from the Douglas Police Department, the officer observed Robinson walking in the street. He recognized him as Robinson. The officer got out of his vehicle and asked to speak with him. The report says that Robinson shrugged his shoulders and took off running through the alley behind Domino’s.

Robinson allegedly ran for several blocks. He went through the OYO Motel property; he had been trespassed from that location by the manager earlier this year.

Other officers responded and after about 30 minutes, Robinson was in custody. Officers had Robinson in handcuffs but, according to the report, he wouldn’t comply with their requests. The report says that Robinson admitted to taking ice earlier in the day and he couldn’t breathe. He also looked like he was trying to run even though he was in handcuffs, the report says. Officers took Robinson to the ground then put him in a patrol car.

Robinson was charged with obstruction of an officer, criminal trespass, and pedestrian walking on the sidewalk if provided. The criminal trespass charge came from running through the motel after he had been trespassed from the location.

Robinson was booked into the Coffee County Jail and later released.
