Just before midnight on October 3, 2025, Douglas police officers arrested a suspect walking south on North Madison Avenue for allegedly beating his girlfriend over an unpaid light bill, according to an incident report from the Douglas Police Department.

The alleged incident took place at a Walker Street address. The responding officer was told that the suspect, Donald Fuller, 36, had fled the scene after he allegedly hit and choked the female victim. The victim stated that earlier in the day, she, Fuller, and another man had been smoking marijuana at their house when Fuller accused the victim of cheating on him. The incident report says that Fuller hit her in the back hard. She left and went to the Walker Street address. Fuller followed her there, the report says. And that is where he allegedly grabbed her by the throat. Witnesses reported that Fuller also threatened to kill the victim. The report says that the victim had marks on her back and neck consistent with what she had said.

In the report, Fuller said he was mad because he had gotten a notice that his lights had been cut off. He said that he had given the victim money to pay the light bill and she hadn’t done it. They argued and it got heated, the report says. Fuller stated that the Walker Street home was a drug dealer’s residence. He added that he did not put his hands on the victim.

The report states that when officers arrested Fuller, he was not cooperative. They eventually got him in custody and charged him with battery and obstruction of an officer. He was transported to the Coffee County Jail and later released.
