Glynn Academy Marketing & Management teacher and DECA advisor Autumn Roberts has been elected to serve as the Georgia DECA Southern Region Board Representative, a prestigious honor that recognizes her leadership in marketing education and her outstanding commitment to student success.

As part of this statewide leadership team, Roberts will represent the educators and student members of the Southern Region, collaborating with state officers and advisors to guide initiatives that strengthen DECA’s mission of preparing emerging leaders and entrepreneurs. Her appointment highlights the remarkable achievements of Glynn Academy DECA, one of the most successful and fast-growing DECA chapters in Georgia.

“I’m honored to represent the incredible educators and students of our region,” Roberts said. “Glynn Academy DECA’s success is built on teamwork, creativity, and the belief that every student can lead, compete, and serve with purpose.”

Over the past five years, Glynn Academy DECA has experienced tremendous growth and success under Roberts’ leadership. The chapter has doubled its membership to over 300 active students and earned recognition as a Top 9 Georgia DECA Chapter of the Year for five consecutive years. Students have achieved state and international finalist rankings in competitive events such as Sports & Entertainment Marketing, Hospitality & Tourism, and Business Operations Research, showcasing both skill and professionalism at every level.

In addition to competition, Glynn Academy’s chapter operates “1788 Marketplace,” the school’s thriving student-run enterprise. The store provides real-world experience in marketing, finance, merchandising, and management, allowing students to apply classroom lessons in a hands-on business environment.

Community service is also at the heart of Glynn Academy DECA. Students have developed and led impactful campaigns such as Treat Your Teacher, First Fridays, and Treats for Athletes, while contributing more than 2,000 volunteer hours to organizations like Habitat for Humanity, Special Olympics Georgia, Manna House, and Keep Golden Isles Beautiful.

“Autumn helps us gain the skills we need to be successful in the real world after high school,” shared Caroline Sexton, Vice President of Hospitality for the chapter at Glynn Academy. “Not only is she our advisor, she is someone I look up to in all aspects of life. She gives us the confidence to lead and the opportunity to make a difference in our school and community.”

Through project-based learning, leadership development, and real-world application, Roberts has built a program that not only meets Georgia CTAE standards but also inspires students to discover their strengths and passions. Her election to the Georgia DECA Board of Directors is both a personal achievement and a testament to the excellence that defines Glynn Academy’s marketing program.

As Glynn Academy DECA continues to grow and innovate, the chapter remains a shining example of what can happen when education, leadership, and community come together to empower students for the future.
