Mrs. Diana Sue Stone Pelton, age 75, of Alma, Georgia, passed away Sunday morning, October 26, 2025 at Bacon County Hospital following a recent illness.

Diana was born July 30, 1950 in Polo, Missouri to the late Vern Stone and the late Cora May Brooks Stone.  She was married to the love of her life, the late James “Jim” Pelton, for 10 years prior to his sudden passing in 1980.  Diana loved her career as the men’s wear department manager for Wal-Mart where she dedicated more than 20 years of service.  Along with her mother, she became a foster parent and took care of many teen girls as well as becoming a driver for the foster care system.  She worked hard to show those around her the love and care they deserved.  Diana was a strong woman and a true warrior.  She demonstrated her strength and perseverance as a 4 time cancer survivor, overcoming ovarian cancer, uterine cancer, breast cancer and thyroid cancer. Diana was blessed to have one child, a daughter that she loved dearly.  She treasured her grandchildren and great grandchildren, and had a great love for animals.  In her free time she was a very creative and talented artist.  After her retirement she enjoyed making jewelry for family and friends.  One of her favorite pastimes was watching hummingbirds.  She attended Alma Church of God and drew much strength from a favorite scripture, Psalms 23.

Diana is survived by her daughter, Jennifer Trenchard and husband Steven Lallemand; 3 grandchildren: Skylar Lowery, Macie Schwartz, Isabelle Trenchard; 3 great-grandchildren: Thalia, Thaelia, Noah; a brother, William “Bill” Stone and wife Wilma of Polo, Missouri; a sister, Patsy S. Jones of Jacksonville, Florida, a nephew Glenn Stone, Jr. and wife Penny of Rayville, MO, and a niece, Cherie Stone of  Kansas City, MO; along with a number of extended family members.

Along with her husband and parents, Diana was preceded in death by 2 brothers: Jerry Brooks, Glenn Stone; and a sister, Becky S Weisgerber.

A celebration of Diana’s life will be held on Saturday, November 22, 2025 at 11:00 AM at Alma Church of God with Bishop Matthew Peavy officiating.  Her family will receive friends in the Alma Church of God sanctuary one hour prior to the service.  Inurnment will be held at a later day at Prairie Ridge Cemetery in Polo, Missouri.

Condolences, kind words and fond memories may be shared with Diana’s family at www.ricketsonfuneralhome.com.

Diana’s arraignments have been entrusted to the kind and compassionate staff of Ricketson Funeral Home, Inc. of Douglas, Georgia.
