Mrs. Norma Gene Courson, age 83 of West Green, Georgia, passed away Thursday afternoon, October 30, 2025 at Coffee Regional Medical Center.
Mrs. Courson was born on March 10, 1942 in Douglas to the late Annie Lee Holton. She retired from H & R Block after more than 30 years of dedicated service as a tax preparer. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who enjoyed going to church and talking about her Lord and Savior. She was a dedicated member of West Green Church of God.
Mrs. Courson leaves behind 2 daughters: Cathy Roberson and husband, Dave, and Janet Matis and husband, Paul, both of West Green, Georgia; 3 granddaughters: MaLana Scott and husband, Trent, of Waycross, Georgia, Nicole Deen and husband, Johnny, and Kaci Anderson and husband, Jeremy, both of Douglas, Georgia; 6 great-grandchildren: JD and Caitlyn Scott, Emma and Chloe Deen, Kayson Andrews, and Gracie Anderson; along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family members.
Along with her mother, Mrs. Courson was preceded in death by her husband, Maxwell Courson; 2 brothers, Stacy Holton and Donnie Holton; and a sister, Faye Tate.
Mrs. Courson’s family will receive friends on Sunday evening, November 2, 2025, from 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM at Ricketson Funeral Home. Mrs. Norma Gene Courson will lie in state, Monday, November 3, 2025 from 1:00PM – 2:00PM, at West Green Church of God with the service at 2:00 PM, with Bishop Tim Hicks officiating, and Bishop Britt Peavy delivering the eulogy. Interment will follow in Lone Hill Cemetery.
Active pallbearers will include Larry Porter, Glynn Harper, Danny Ross, Bart Allen, Bobby Tanner, and Billy Tanner.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that memorial contributions be made to West Green Church of God.
