Coffee sophomore quarterback Tommy Stanley threw second-half touchdown passes to Trey Smith and Jasiah McRae while kicker Chris Hernandez made a field goal in the second quarter in the Coffee Trojans’ 41-17 loss to the Thomas County Central Yellow Jackets in Friday night’s regular season finale at Jardine Stadium.
The Yellow Jackets took a 14-3 lead into halftime then scored 20 points in the third quarter and seven more in the final period. Both of the Trojans’ touchdowns came in the third quarter. Stanley connected with Smith for a 62-yard touchdown then threw a 52-yarder to McRae.
The Yellow Jackets finish the season with a region championship to go with a perfect 10-0 record. The Trojans are 4-6 with a 2-3 region mark. They secured the fourth seed in the playoffs last week with their win over Veterans. The postseason begins in two weeks; Coffee will travel to Canton to face the Sequoyah High Chiefs in the first round. The two teams played in the quarterfinals last year and the Trojans came away with a 70-48 win.
