Myrna Rae Box, age 86, passed away peacefully on Monday, November 10, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. Born on June 1, 1939 in Coffee County, she was the daughter of Warren and Opal Holton. She lived a life marked by humility, faith, and a deep love for others. Before becoming a mother, she worked as a beautician. Once she began her greatest calling, motherhood, she devoted herself fully to her family, embracing her role as a dedicated homemaker and steadfast supporter of her husband in his work as a pastor and educator. She still found time to serve and support the children of the community as a substitute teacher. Myrna Rae’s love for the Lord and her family guided every part of her life. Her kindness, compassion, and strong hugs touched the lives of all who knew her. Many have lovingly described her as “an angel on Earth”. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered as a devoted wife, loving mother, cherished sister, faithful friend, and most of all, a beloved and adored Nana.
Her survivors include: Her beloved husband of 63 years, Herbert Box of Douglas, GA, four daughters: Dominique (Keith ) Carver of Ambrose, GA, Michelle (Timothy) Hall of Brunswick, GA; Tara (Neal) McGaha of Danielsville, GA, and Angelique (Tim) Box-Cossey of Douglas, GA, three brothers: Ben (Margaret) Holton of Columbus, GA, Garry (Beverly) Holton, Sr. of Canton, GA, and Kirby (Sandra) Holton of Douglas, GA, and one sister, Vaye Holton of Norcross, GA, Seven grandchildren: Jared (Hayley) Carver, Josh (Taylor) Carver, Hannah Hall, Jessi Carver, Hayley Hall, Holton McGaha, and Haven McGaha. Six great-grandchildren: Jaxon Carver, Kason Carver, Jordan Carver, Olivia Hall, Wyatt Carver, and Adeline Carver, along with a host of nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by father, Mr. Warren Holton, Sr., and her mother, Mrs. Opal Kirkland Holton.
The family will receive friends Friday, November 14, 2025 from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm at Sims Funeral Home in Douglas, GA.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, November 15, 2025 at 11:00 am at Sandhill Baptist Church, with Rev. Steven Adams and Rev. Stuart Drury Officiating. Interment will follow at Purvis Cemetery.
