Ken Erickson, a native of Douglas, proudly embarked on his journey through education after graduating from Coffee High School. Serving his country in the United States Air Force, Mr. Erickson distinguished himself with valor and heroism, earning the prestigious Airman’s Medal.
Following his honorable military service, he returned to his community driven by a passionate desire to make a difference. Mr. Erickson devoted his career to shaping young minds across Coffee County and Atkinson County, initially at Eastside Elementary School, where he taught fourth-grade science and social studies. His passion for these subjects ignited a love for learning in countless children, laying a strong foundation for their futures.
Beyond his classroom duties, Mr. Erickson took the initiative to create his own tutoring business, providing additional academic support and mentorship to students seeking extra help. He also cherished his tradition of taking students fishing, offering them a memorable opportunity to relax, bond, and create lasting memories beyond the classroom.
Over his illustrious 25-year career in education, Mr. Erickson mentored students of all ages through his teaching and leadership. His dedication extended to coaching soccer, where he led multiple teams—including recreational teams, the Coffee County women’s varsity soccer team, and the Atkinson County men’s varsity soccer team. Notably, he established a recreational soccer league for girls of all ages, fostering a love for the game and encouraging participation across all skill levels. His coaching successes included guiding teams to the state playoffs and inspiring a passion for soccer and teamwork among his players.
Throughout his tenure, Mr. Erickson exemplified unwavering commitment to guiding the next generation towards academic achievement and personal success. His influence has left an unforgettable mark on the community and the countless lives he has touched.
