Don Stokes, age 70, of Ambrose, Georgia passed away on Saturday, December 6, 2025, at St Vincent’s Riverside. Mr. Stokes was born on August 23, 1955, in Douglas, GA to the late Council Stokes and the late Dorothy Stokes.
His survivors include: one son, Matthew (Heather) Stokes of Hazlehurst, GA; two grandchildren, Ava Kay Stokes and Kyler Livingston; two brothers in law, Glenn C. (Kay) Davis of West Green, GA and Terry (Sheila) Davis of Ambrose, GA; along with several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Council Stokes and mother, Dorothy Stokes.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, December 10, 2025 from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm at Sims Funeral Home in Douglas, GA. The family will also accept friends at their home at 7 Stetson Lane Hazlehurst, GA 31539.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, December 11, 2025 at 2:00 pm at the Broxton Church of God with Rev. Tom Rice and Rev. Joey Copeland officiating. Interment will follow at Bethany Holiness Baptist Church Cemetery.
Active pallbearers will include Arthur Jackson and The Coffee County Road Department.
Honorary pallbearers will include: Coffee County Road Department and all of the County Employees.
