On December 31, 2025, just before midnight, a deputy responded to a Harris Road address in Broxton in reference to a meet complainant call. The incident soon turned into something more bizarre pretty quickly.
The complainant stated that Lori Marie Smalley, 41, of Broxton, was loud and acting strange, according to an incident report from the sheriff’s office. When the officer spoke to Smalley, she said that the complainant and one other person who lived in the home were dead, one was a skin walker and therefore wasn’t real. She also said that the complainant had shot Smalley in the head twice, the report says.
The officer told Smalley the individuals lived at the residence and he couldn’t ask them to leave. The report then states that Smalley asked to be taken to a local motel. The officer asked her which motel she would like to be taken to. At that point, the report says, she looked away and started talking to someone who wasn’t there. She made a series of strange statements, including claiming diplomatic immunity. She added that she had smoked methamphetamine prior to all of this happening.
The officer left the scene but didn’t get very far. Smalley called back, stating that the officer come back and bring back-up. The reason, she said in the report, is because the officer who had just responded (and who she was talking to at the time) was getting beaten up. The report says that when the officer told her she was talking to the officer who was just at her house and he was fine, she refused to talk to him any further.
The deputy went back to Smalley’s home and placed her under arrest. She was charged with unlawful conduct during a 911 call and jailed. She was released on a $500 property bond.
