The best way to stay informed and get involved is to attend the city’s public meetings. The City of Douglas encourages citizens to attend public meetings or consider joining a volunteer board. Below is the February 2026 schedule for boards and committees. All meetings are open to the public, and your participation is always welcome.
Currently, the City of Douglas is seeking one person to fill a vacancy on the Airport Commission. The Airport Commission acts as an advisory commission to the City Commission for recommendations regarding the safe operation and maintenance of the Douglas Municipal-Gene Chambers Airport. It consists of ten members, nine members who have aviation knowledge and/or an aviation background, and one elected City Commissioner whom the Mayor and City Commission appoint. The volunteer should be interested in aviation and live in Douglas or Coffee County.
