Mr. Roger “Wayne” Kight, age 69, of Denton, Georgia, passed away Thursday night, February 12, 2026, at his residence surrounded by loved ones, following a period of declining health.
Wayne was born August 28, 1956, in Douglas, Georgia, to the late Luther Kight and the late Lilla Christine Deen Kight. He was a certified electrician and was self-employed most of his life. He was a loving dad, granddad, great granddad, and uncle who enjoyed fishing and camping. He was born and raised in the Snipesville community and lived on the place he played as a child, the “Homeplace”, and passed away there. He grew up in Macedonia Church of God in Denton, Georgia. Wayne enjoyed going to the river, he liked to hunt, but his greatest joy was spending quality time with each one of his children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by 3 brothers: Thomas Charles “Punkin” Kight, Jerry Kight, and Ray Kight.
Wayne is survived by 2 daughters: Tina K. Lewis (Cliff) of Hazlehurst, Georgia and Kayla K. Chambers (Jeffery) of Douglas, Georgia; 5 grandchildren: Cody, Tatyana, Cam, Elijah, and Jazalyn; a great granddaughter, Avyana Wilkerson; along with a number of nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
Wayne’s funeral will be held on Monday, February 16, 2026, in the Ricketson Funeral Home Chapel with Bishop Van McCall and Rev. Charlie Kight officiating. Interment will follow in the Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church Cemetery in Jeff Davis County. Wayne’s family will receive friends in the Ricketson Funeral Home Chapel one hour prior to the funeral service.
