On Saturday, February 21, 2026, deputies with the Coffee County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to Grove Mobile Home Park in Douglas in reference to individuals suffering from gunshot wounds. Upon arrival, deputies located two adult female subjects at the residence with apparent gunshot injuries.
The injured parties were identified as Stephanie Ann Nicole Castillo, 35, of Douglas, and Elisabet Gaspar, 27, of Douglas. Emergency Medical Services rendered aid at the scene. During the preliminary investigation, deputies determined the shooting had actually occurred at a separate residence near Tyler Road.
In addition to additional deputies responding to the primary location, members of the Georgia Bureau of Investigation were enlisted to assist in the investigation. Investigators learned that the homeowner had been attacked by the two suspects, who were allegedly armed with a machete. According to the victim, Castillo and Gaspar arrived at the residence with the intent to commit a robbery. A prolonged physical struggle ensued, during which the homeowner was beaten and assaulted. The homeowner ultimately retrieved a shotgun and fired a single round, striking both assailants.
Castillo and Gaspar were transported to Coffee Regional Medical Center for treatment. Following medical clearance, both suspects were taken into custody and transported to the Coffee County Jail.
Each suspect has been charged with two counts of aggravated assault, two counts of armed robbery, and one count of home invasion.
