A 49-year-old Fitzgerald woman has been in jail since March 17, 2026, after Douglas police officers allegedly found illegal drugs in a vehicle in which she was riding. She also allegedly gave officers false name and information and had multiple active warrants for her arrest.
According to an incident report from the Douglas Police Department, around 2:30 a.m. on March 17, a DPD officer stopped a 2015 Toyota Corolla on North Madison Avenue for not having a visible registration sticker on the tag.
During the stop, the officers questioned the driver, identified as Alecia King, 39, of Douglas, and a passenger. The passenger initially told officers her name was Stacey Johnson. However, during a search of the vehicle, officers found a driver’s license for Brandy Sweat, 49, of Fitzgerald. Sweat was the passenger, according to the report.
Officers asked King for consent to search the vehicle. King is a POST-certified communications dispatcher who is not currently working for an agency, according to the report. She gave her consent to search the Corolla.
Officers also found suspected methamphetamine and marijuana inside the vehicle. The methamphetamine and most of the marijuana were found on the passenger’s side of the vehicle, the report says. Officers ran Sweat’s information through GCIC and found that she had multiple active warrants.
Sweat was arrested and charged with possession of methamphetamine and booked into the Coffee County Jail, where she remains.
