Mr. Andrew Dwain “Andy” Stapleton, age 57, of Douglas, Georgia, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday morning, April 16, 2026, at Coffee Regional Medical Center, following a sudden medical emergency.
Andy was born March 13, 1969, in Douglas, Georgia, to Lynda Wooten Mobley and the late Dwain Stapleton. He made his career as a self-employed auto mechanic. Andy loved “going fast”! He enjoyed hot rodding, car racing, and boat racing. When not indulging his “need for Speed”, he could often be found enjoying his favorite local fishing spots. He was of the Baptist faith.
Andy is survived by his mother, Lynda Wooten Mobley of Douglas, Georgia; his longtime companion, April Merritt of Broxton, Georgia; a son, Tyler Stapleton of Douglas, Georgia; two daughters: Mollie Merritt and Gracie Merritt, both of Douglas, Georgia; a granddaughter, Delilah Ann Stapleton of Douglas, Georgia; and a sister, Shannon Stapleton of Douglas, Georgia; along with a number of extended family members.
Along with his father, Andy was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, his paternal grandparents, and his brother, John Dudley Mobley.
Per his wishes, Andy will be memorialized by cremation, and no services are scheduled at this time.
