The Coffee Trojans finished the 2026 regular season on a six-game winning streak, capped by a 4-0 win over the Crisp County Cougars Thursday night at Charles Wilson Field in Douglas.
The Trojans scored two in the second then one each in the third and fourth innings. Crisp, meanwhile, never got on the board. A pair of Coffee pitchers, starter Evan Lingenfelter (6 IP, 2 H, 8 K, 1 BB) and Will Day (1 IP, 1 K) kept the Cougar offense at bay all night long.
The Trojans scored their first runs of the game in the second inning when Ben Fussell singled in Reid Harden for a 1-0 lead. Morgan Lewis followed with a single that scored Wesley Hood. Coffee took a 3-0 lead in the third when Eli Vickers scored Gavin McElroy on a fielder’s choice. The final run of the game came an inning later on a Jimmy Timothy single that scored Lewis.
The Trojans are 18-11 overall and are the third seed heading into the state playoffs. Coffee will play the #2 seed from Region 6-5A. Earlier in the week, Lassiter was #2 but lost three games to #1-ranked Pope. According to the latest standings, Creekview has moved into #2 while Lassiter has dropped to #3. The Trojans will travel to Canton to face Creekview in a three-game series to open the state playoffs.
