A 32-year-old Douglas man remains in jail after allegedly getting into an altercation with a female victim and threatening to kill her multiple times, according to a report from the Coffee County Sheriff’s Office.
The report states that around 1:30 p.m. on April 8, 2026, deputies responded to a Waterford Street address and met with a female victim. She said that she had come home on the morning of April 8 and her ex, Senie Benefield Jr., 32, of Douglas was there waiting for her. She went inside the home and he followed her, the report says, and a physical altercation ensued. The report says that the victim had visible injuries on her face and arms.
The victim also had an audio message from Benefield from March 24, 2026, in which Benefield could be heard threatening to kill her multiple times and laughing, saying, “I’m gonna get away with it; watch me,” according to the report.
Benefield was not at the location when officers arrived. However, they located him a short time later at a Highway 221 North address. He was arrested and charged with terroristic threats and acts. He also had two active probation warrants, one for cruelty to children and the other for aggravated assault. He was booked into the Coffee County Jail and has not been released.
The aggravated assault charge stems from a May 28, 2024, incident in which Benefield allegedly cut an individual with a machete in the Oak Park community. Benefield wad looking for a female who owed him $150 and went to a home at which he believed she lived. When a man at the house said she wasn’t there, Benefield left but returned with a machete. He said he wasn’t leaving without his money and attacked the man, cutting him multiple times, according to report of the incident. Officers found Benefield in a nearby home hiding under a blanket.
Benefield was also arrested in April of last year for allegedly threatening to burn down someone’s house.
