Xavier Devon McFatten, 36, of Douglas, has been in the Coffee County Jail since April 21, 2026, after he was arrested and charged with bestiality and aggravated animal cruelty after he allegedly killed a pit bulldog while attempting to have sex with it.
According to a report from the Douglas Police Department, officers arrived at an East Gordon Street address on April 21, 2026, at around 12:10 p.m. in reference to a possible animal cruelty incident. When they arrived, the complainant said that McFatten had killed her dog, a pit bull named No Name. McFatten had also barricaded himself inside a bedroom/bathroom.
Officers went to the room and attempted to make contact with McFatten. However, he refused to answer. The door was locked and the officers were given permission to “do whatever was necessary” to get inside. One officer kicked in the door but found the bedroom and bathroom empty. A window in the bathroom was open and McFatten was nowhere to be found, the report says.
The complainant and a friend had not been at the home. When they arrived, another person inside the home (several others were there) asked what the dog did. One of the witnesses said that McFatten had been in a room with the dog for over an hour and it sounded as though he was beating the dog.
A woman went inside the room and saw McFatten naked and sweaty, “hovering” over the dog. The complainant and her friend then left the home, though not together, the report says.
Witness statements to police were graphic and described McFatten yelling at the dog to “get down.” They also said that there were noises coming from the room that sounded like McFatten was having intercourse with the dog. At least one witness stated he was afraid to go into the room.
McFatten fled the home and officers attempted to locate him. They searched several locations but couldn’t find him. About 5 p.m., the report says that McFatten returned to the East Gordon Street location. Several officers went back to the home and found McFatten there. He was arrested and charged with bestiality and aggravated animal cruelty. He was transported to the Coffee County Jail where he remains.
The dog did not survive the incident. Officers transported the dog to an out-of-town laboratory in order to have a forensic necropsy performed.
