Sue Gail Morris, age 79, of Sarasota, FL, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 16, 2026 at her home. She was born on September 26, 1946 the daughter of the late Mr. Elmer Veal and the late Mrs. Sara Jean Grantham Veal.
Her survivors include her beloved husband, Thomas Morris of Sarasota, FL; two daughters, Parrish (Rob) Daugherty and Frances Renee Morris; three sisters, Patricia (Thomas) Peacock, Jane Veal, and Tracey (Jay) Kerrick; along with five grandchildren: Amber Moten, Skyla Swann, Cierra Fountain, Addison Daugherty and Rilan Daugherty; and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by: father, Elmer Veal; mother, Sara Jean Grantham Veal, and one daughter, Denise Fountain.
Gail was a beloved wife, mother, sister, aunt and grandmother whose greatest joy was in bringing loved ones together. Whether cooking a holiday meal, birthday celebration or hosting a Sunday dinner, Gail treasured every family gathering. She also dedicated herself to teaching 2nd and 3rd grade students, a career that was far more than a profession to her–it was her passion and her purpose. Her warmth, generosity, and love for others will always be remembered.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, May 23, 2026, from 6:00 PM until 9:00 PM.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday, May 24, 2026, at the chapel of Sims Funeral Home in Douglas, GA, at 2:00 PM, with Rev. Howard Holt officiating. Interment will follow at the City of Douglas Cemetery.
Song selection will be chosen by the family.
